"Hansel and Gretel" Show (registration)
Time & Location
About The Event
Little London Ballet proudly presents... "Hansel and Gretel" a dance fairytale! This showtime, we invite our pre-school dancing stars to perform on the beautiful stage of The Pentland Theatre, within the Arts Depot Complex. This will be an excellent experience for our little dancers to perform on a professional stage alongside our Elite dance groups.
Parents, please note that our performance opportunities are just that... "opportunities". It is not compulsory. When our dancers get a little older, if they want to participate in shows and competitions, they must enrol into one of our performance groups in addition to their weekly ballet and tap classes. We like to extend these performance opportunities to our pre-school children to give them a taste for performing, and for them to see some of our Elite dancers in action, which may inspire them :-)
Your little dancers will be combining the dance steps they have been practising this term into a dance which will be performed in this magical show. This will happen within their weekly classes. Our dance teachers will perform on stage with our little dancers, and ensure their performing experience is positive and exciting!
PLAN OF THE DAY
On the day of the show, we will require the little dancers to arrive at 1.45pm so they can start their dress rehearsal on stage promptly at 2pm. After the dress rehearsal, the little dancers will be taken to their dressing room with our fully DBS checked chaperones and be looked after throughout the performing day.
We provide quiet activities to keep the children occupied (such as drawing, and books). Parents, please provide a snack and bottled. water (no nuts!!! As we have children with severe allergies).
The show will commence at 3.30pm. Our young dancers will perform in the first half of the show, and be given a free ticket to join their family and friends in the audience to watch the second half of the show (approximately 4.45pm). Parents will collect their little dancers from their dressing room at the time of the interval to do so.
WHAT TO WEAR
To perform on a beautiful, professional stage, our little dancers will need an equally beautiful costume. This is standard practise in the world of dance. Dancers wear uniform for class, and a costume for stage which is different. In each of our shows, our little dancers wear the same white performance tutu, which we accessorise to fit the theme of the dance. This means that old tutu's can be sold/swapped/bought via our facebooked group "Little London Ballet Parents" if required. The costume (new) is priced as follows:
White performance tutu: £22
Tan performance tights: £5
Hair should be neatly groomed into a ballet bun and secured in place using spray/gel. A good tutorial for ballet buns can be seen via youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUVmm9tzZs4&t=42s
Tickets to watch the show are priced as follows:
CONCESSIONS: £17.50 (OAP's and Children)
DANCERS (to watch 2nd half of the show): FREE
**It is very important for families to realise that as a company, we make a tremendous LOSS financially putting on shows in professional theatres. It costs in excess of £4,000 to hire this particular theatre per day, we then have to pay technical theatre staff, our teachers and chaperones. This is why we have to price the tickets as above for these shows. As much as we would love to make them free for all, we simply can not do this. We do feel our dancers gain a tremendous amount of experience through performing in a professional theatre, which is why we choose to take this loss, and continue offering these amazing opportunities to our students. As stressed above, this opportunity is not compulsory, and as you are aware, you are free as parents to watch our classes in the studio should you not wish to take this up**
